МК - Македонски штит откриен во Бонче, Пелагонија
Штитот има дијаметар од 73.5 сантиметри и е изработен од бронза.
Во централниот простор на штитот е претставено 12 - крако македонско сонце, а околу него се чита натписот BASIL[EWS] DHMHTРIO[U] (превод: КРАЛ ДЕМЕТРИЈ). Кружното поле на бронзената плоча завршува со седум српести полиња во чија средина се изведени 8 - краки македонски сонца.
Името на кралот би можело да значи дека штитот му припаѓал на војник со повисок чин во македонската армија.
Постојат две можни варијанти за точно датирање на штитот:
Првата дека е од времето на Деметриј I Полиоркет (Опсадникот) кој владеел од 294 до 287 год. пне како припадник на Антигонидската династија и син на кралот Антигон I Едноокиот.
Втората дека припаѓа на периодот на кралот Деметриј II кој владеел со Македонија од 239 до 229 год пне, како припадник на Антигонидската династија и син на Антигон II Гоната.
EN - Macedonian shield discovered in Bonče, Pelagonia
The shield has a diameter of 73.5 cm and it is made out of bronze.
In the central space of the shield we have a macedonian sun with 12 rays, around it we have the inscription BASIL[EWS] DHMHTРIO[U] (translation: KING DEMETRIUS). The circular field of the bronze plate ends with seven rotating sickled fields which are filled with a macedonian sun with 8 rays
The name of the king could mean that the shield belonged to a soldier with a higher rank in the Macedonian army.
There are two possible variants for accurate dating of the shield:
First that it was from the time of Demetrius I Poliorcetes who ruled from 294 to 287 BC as a member of the Antigonid dynasty and son of king Antigonus I Monophthalmus.
Second that it belongs from the period of king Demetrius II, who ruled with Macedonia from 239 to 229 BC, also as a member of the Macedonian Antigonid dynasty and son of Antigonus II Gonatas.

To answer your question, the translation of the name in English is considering how those Macedonian kings* are reffered by the English speaking historians. I think it is more a matter of language and established norm. And the norm, as far as I know, is Demetrius.
