Macedonian Shields from Pelagonija

22 centuries old antique Macedonian Shield, from the period of king Demetrij’s reign found at the site Bonce, Pelagonia, Republic of Macedonia. It is believed that the shield belonged to a veteran of the personal guard of king Demetrij.

In the middle of the shields with diameter of 80 centimeters stands the 16 rayed Sun, the symbol of Macedonia. and the Macedonians Curently the shied parts are in Ohrid burou and museum for reconstruction.

Commonly the macedonian shields were made by bronze but somethimes were plated with gold or silver.
